The Katy Tigers won District 19 last year and advanced to the area playoffs. After an undefeated non-district season, they are likely the favorite for a repeat championship.

Katy enters district play with an 11-0-2 record, including three tournaments. Along the way, they gave coach Tom McPherson his 700th career victory.

The Tigers finished 5-0-1 at the Katy ISD Tournament, Feb. 26-28, defeating Dulles, Lamar, Cy Woods, Stratford and Ridge Point with a total margin of 36-19.

They were 3-0-1 at the Katy Tiger Invitational, March 5-7. The Tigers defeated Cy Springs, Brazoswood and Dawson, tying Westside while outscoring opponents 28-8.

The Tomball Tournament was shortened by rain, but Katy won all three games they played.

Matt Chalk led the way in a 9-2 win against Klein Collins, earning the win while homering and doubling at the plate. Cole Haring added a double and two RBI.

Grant Jackman was 3 for 4 and Trey Clapp was 2 for 3 in a 5-1 victory against Tomball. The Tigers defeated Ridge Point 5-2 with Dane Haveman getting the win and Taylor Cox amassing two hits and an RBI.

The Tigers opened district play March 17 at home against Taylor. Games at Mayde Creek (March 20) and Seven Lakes followed (March 24).
