Katy High Dance Director Receives the Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award

Katy High Brigade Director, Patty Henson, received the Texas Dance Educators Association Lifetime Achievement Award! Henson has directed Katy High’s half-time performances for the past 37 years. Henson has served in education for 40 years.

The Texas Dance Educators Association was formed with the intention of confronting the challenges of dance education head-on in 1979. The five founders, Pat Clark, Mary Daniel, Peggy Moree Smith, Cynthia Corn Parker, and Kathy Wood “patterned the first By-laws after the Texas High School Coaches Association.” Since the first annual convention in 1980, the “TDEA has been an active voice in the dance/drill team community in Texas.” TDEA is committed to recognizing those who are making a difference in the dance education community. Congratulations, Director Patty Henson!
