Katy ISD Partners in Education Announces Volunteers of the Year

Tagged in:

Katy ISD’s Volunteers in Public Schools initiative hosted its annual Volunteer Celebration breakfast on May 16th honoring the thousands of school district volunteers who donate their time supporting Katy ISD students and teachers. This school year, 17,044 volunteers donated 838,462 hours which, in human resource terms, equates to 403 full-time staff members, or 7 additional teachers at every campus. Over 1,000 volunteers attended to hear this year’s keynote speaker, Katy ISD Alumnus Dr. Adam Saenz, author of “The Power of a Teacher.” District-wide entertainment was provided by the Katy ISD All-Star Jazz Band, Schmalz Elementary Sharknado Guitar Ensemble, Taylor High School Pacesetters, Tompkins High School Sound FX, Seven Lake High School Drum Line and the Cinco Ranch Junior High Cheerleaders. Representatives from all nine Katy ISD high schools presented the impact of the total number of donated hours by our Katy ISD volunteers.
Volunteers in Public Schools is an initiative offered through Partners in Education, the Katy ISD department that brings the community into the classroom. For more information please go to “Community” tab on www.katyisd.org to find Partners in Education.
