Katy ISD has revealed their district plan for reopening for the 2020-21 school year. Students will return for the first day of school on August 19 with no new changes to the instructional calendar.
A new bell schedule has been put in place in order for buses to clean and disinfect between drop offs. The following schedule is:
High school: 7:15 -2:35
- Group 1 - 7:55-3:05
- Group 2 - 8:25-3:35
Junior High: 8:55-4:05
In addition to the change in bell schedule, guidelines have been put in place for phase 1 of reopening.
Students can choose to attend virtual or face-to-face instruction. Enrollment for the Katy Virtual Academy will be completed between July 20 - Aug 4. Virtual learners will still have an opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities. Students enrolled in virtual learning can opt back into in person instruction at the end of their grading period.
Employees will be required to self-screen daily. Both students and staff in grades 4-12 will be required to wear a mask, while younger ages are highly encouraged. Social distancing measures will be taken throughout the day.
Please check frequently with Katy ISD's website for updates and changes.
