The spotlight shone bright at the March 11 city council meeting where members of the Katy Fire and Police departments received recognition from Mayor Chuck Brawner and Katy Fire Chief Russell Wilson for a life saving event in which a child was saved. In his “Above & Beyond” proclamation, Brawner praised the fire and medic crew and the police dispatcher for their quick response to a 911 call from Homewood Suites. Brawner said the police dispatcher Neil Lange instructed the child’s father on life-saving procedures to take until first responders arrived. The mayor said first responders from Fire Station 2 arrived about a minute after the call to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and revive the youngster. Katy Fire Chief Russell Wilson presented each first responder with a letter of commendation. The Katy Fire Department takes great satisfaction in recognizing the actions of the crews from Station 2 and the police dispatcher.
