An anonymous Katy area resident has just purchased the historic J.V. Cardiff & Sons rice dryer plant, with plans to restore and preserve it. When the rice dryer facility was opened in 1966, it was the tallest in the country, standing at 177 feet tall.
When the historic rice dryer went to the market for sale, Katy locals were concerned that it may fall into the wrong hands. The buyer, a Katy area local, has made clear that they want to restore and maintain this historic landmark that’s so important to Katy’s history.
