Katy ISD’s Gifted and Talented service will be an amazing program for kindergarten students to develop out-of-the-box problem solving skills that will be useful for the rest of their lives.

Kindergarten students who are selected for the GT service will spend 60 minutes per week in the elementary GT program, Challenge. Once students advance to the first grade, they will spend one day per week in this program. Students who are chosen for this GT service will begin spending time in Challenge in March 2020.

Parents in the Falls at Green Meadows community can request a GT screening for their kindergarten student by filling out and returning the Kindergarten Parent Checklist by Friday, October 4. “The screening process begins in October and continues through February.” Parents will be notified through mail by the end of February if their student is selected for the GT service.

A Kindergarten GT information session will be held in early October for parents to learn more about this program, which is a great time to ask all the questions!

Texas aims to provide a unique education for students who perform at a higher level. Students in the Gifted and Talented program are taught at a more challenging level to help their academic growth, and strengthen their leadership skills, discipline and innovation.
