Katy High School Color Guard to host Spin-a-Thon event

The Katy High School Color Guard will be hosting Spin-A-Thon, an event that will benefit Katy High School Color Guard and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. This event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, at the Katy High School gym. At this fun and free event, the KHS Color Guard will be practicing routines with pink spirit flags and have other activities such as a spin-off between grade levels, a bake sale and a tribute wall. Proceeds from Katy Wine Fest will go towards Center for Learning

The Cinco Ranch Rotary is hosting the 10th Annual Katy Wine Fest, which is scheduled for Nov. 6, at the Cafe at Brookwood in Brookshire. The event will last from 7 - 11 p.m. and is expecting a large turnout of over 300 guests. The moeny raised during the Katy Wine Fest will go towards the Brookwood Community's Center for Learning to help continue its ongoing training and outreach programs. Texas Children's Hospital chosen as official charity for 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon

The official charity of this year's Chevron Houston Marathon Run for a Reason program is Texas Children's Hospital. Each year, the Run for a Reason program attracts over 30,000 participants, which allows both individuals and organizations to fundraise for the Run for a Reason charity. Maud Marks Library to present Green Thumb series

Master Gardeners of Harris County and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will be kicking off their Green Thumb series at Maud Marks Library once a month. In this series, they will be discussing a variety of gardening techniques and topics unique to the community. A class on fall vegetable gardening will take place at 10 a.m. on July 18, at Maud Marks. Celebrate the Fourth in Houston

4th of July Weekend at CityCentre

Two nights of live concerts and a July Fourth fireworks spectacular will welcome the Independence Day weekend at CityCentre. The celebration begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 3 and continues on Saturday, July 4, ending with a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. Featured bands for this free event include Legendary Rhythm Bandits and Mustache The Band.
