Katy ISD to survey parents, community to evaluate transportation options

Katy ISD officials will be reaching out for input from the community and students’ parents this week for ways to improve district transportation.

The ever-growing school district, which reached a student population of 70,000 this year, will email a survey that will also be available online as part of a search for “a more sustainable solution” to improve its growing pains, officials said.

Walls go up at Memorial Hermann Katy tower sire

Commuters on I-10 have seen some notable changes to the north as construction at Memorial Hermann Hospital Katy continues. What once was a ground-level foundation has turned into the shell of a six-story, 229,000-square-foot expansion of the hospital slated to open next year.

Construction began in May on the $85 million project that will add 52 beds in the patient tower—bringing the hospital’s total to 194 beds—and a four-story, 100,000-square-foot medical plaza for office space west of the hospital.

Katy reaches 6A Division II regional final after drubbing Dawson

At the time, Katy football coach Gary Joseph said his team, especially the offensive line, had some growing up to do.

The Tigers were walking off the field at Woodforest Bank Stadium in September, heading to the locker room as The Woodlands players and fans were celebrating a decisive 21-point victory that sent shock waves across the state.

Katy ISD named fast-growth district

Katy ISD is one of 85 Texas school districts designated as a fast-growth district by the Fast Growth School Coalition in Austin. Demographic firm Population and Survey Analysts projects that KISD’s enrollment will grow by more than 2,000 students a year over the next two decades. KISD will be faced with ensuring that the facilities, staff and services are in place to serve these students.

Katy ISD places $748 million bond on ballot

Katy ISD could see the addition of six new schools, a second district stadium and a slew of major campus renovations in the next five years if voters approve a $748 million bond referendum on the Nov. 4 ballot.
