The Katy High School football playoff game will be held tonight, Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. The Katy High School Tigers will take on the Cypress Ranch Mustangs on neutral territory, NRG Stadium. Pre-sale student tickets are $6, whiles adult tickets are $11, and all tickets sold at the gate will be $15. Parking is $12 for tonight's game.

The Katy High School Destination Imagination (DI) Team, Pi DI-ers, recently received sixth place in their challenge at the 2016 Destination Imagination Global Finals, which was held May 25 - 28. Three other Katy ISD DI teams placed in the top 10 in their challenges, competing against over 1,400 other teams at the Global Finals.

Katy High School's head coach of the football program, Coach Gary Johnson, has recently received the honor of being chosen as a 2016 inductee to the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame. The official announcement was made on Saturday, Dec. 19 during an announcement ceremony at NRG Stadium. Coach Gary Johnson will be inducted along with eight other inductees.
Johnson's current coaching record is 167-14, and he has led the Katy High School Tigers to eight state finals games. The induction ceremony will take place in Waco, Texas, on May 7, 2016. For more on this story, visit READ MORE »
The Katy Tigers didn't just claim the Texas High School title over the weekend. They were named national champs in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national football rankings.
Katy went into the championship weekend as the third-ranked team nationally, but their dominant 34-7 win over previously unbeaten Lake Travis vaulted them to the top spot in the country.

Paddy Fisher, a senior at Katy High School, was recently announced as the second annual recipient of the 2015 Greater Houston High School Rotary Lombardi Award. This award is presented to an outstanding football player who also best exemplifies Vince Lombardi's discipline. Kyle Porter, Katy High School senior, was recently chosen to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Porter was 1 of only 90 high school football players across the country chosen to play in this prestigious bowl game. At a ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 1, Porter was recognized for this achievement. The U.S. Army Bowl features the top 90 players in the nation's premier All-American high school game. The bowl game takes place each January at the San Antonio Alamodome. District play has ended, and now football teams across the Houston area will be fighting to make it to the next round of playoffs. The Katy High School Tigers will be facing off during this first round of playoffs against Westside today, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. at Rhodes Stadium. Rebecca Lacquey, a Katy High School United States History teacher, was recently chosen by Humanities Texas as a recipient of the 2015 Oustanding Teaching of the Humanities Award. Humanities Texas board member and State Rep. John Zerwas met Lacquey in her classroom to present her with her award and her check of $5,000. In addition, Katy High School has received $500 for materials to further instruction. Over 450 educators across the state were nominated for this prestigious award and only 12 were chosen. The Katy High School Color Guard will be hosting Spin-A-Thon, an event that will benefit Katy High School Color Guard and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. This event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, at the Katy High School gym. At this fun and free event, the KHS Color Guard will be practicing routines with pink spirit flags and have other activities such as a spin-off between grade levels, a bake sale and a tribute wall. Katy High School football took a big win over The Woodlands High School last week. The Tigers defeated the Highlanders 14-7 in their pre-district game before heading into District 19-6A play this week against Mayde Creek. Katy defeated Mayde Creek this week with a score of 52-0.
