This weekend, get a group together and head to Katy City Park for the City of Katy Trash-Off! This fun community event gives Katy community members the opportunity to help clean up harmful debris and litter from several designated areas around the greater Katy community. Individuals, teams and families are welcome.

A new authentic Italian eatery is coming soon to Katy Mills! 4D Gelateria, an authentic eatery offering not only real Italian gelato, but salads, pizza, paninis, pasta and more, will open at the end of April or possibly early May. The gelateria will be located at 5000 Katy Mills Circle, Ste. 517 in Katy.

Don't miss the Katy Color Run 5K, which will be held tomorrow, Saturday, 25, at 8 a.m. This event will begin at Hope Impacts, located at 1450 W. Grand Parkway S., G447. On Saturday, April 1, you can catch a glimpse of what life in the 1800s was like for the early pioneers of Texas at the 32nd annual Katy Folk Life Festival. This event will allow visitors to see how these pioneers dressed, ate and survived in the late 19th century. The Katy Folk Life Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, at the Kenneth D. Welch Outdoor Learning Center in Katy, and admission is only $1.

The Katy ISD Board of Trustees recently approved "Legacy Stadium" as the name of the new Student Activity Facility: Second Stadium with a unanimous vote of 7-0. As per the Naming Committee's recommendation, the field itself will be named after Mike Johnston, former coach.
Legacy Stadium, a multi-purpose, state-of-the-art facility, will open in this Fall as part of the Academy Sports + Outdoors Activity Complex.

Warm cookie delivery company Tiff's Treats is set to open its newest location in Katy on March 4. The chain has over 25 stores located across the state and features several varieties of brownies and cookies available for delivery. During Tiff's Treat's Katy grand opening, a portion of the cookie sales will go toward Texas Children's Hospital.

Mark your calendar for Relay for Life of Katy, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, from 4 p.m. to midnight at Katy City Park. Relay for Life is a nation-wide event that raises funds to go toward cancer research and ultimately finding a cure to cancer. The event benefits the American Cancer Society, and hundreds of Relay for Life events are held across the nation each spring in their honor.

The Katy area is gearing up for Super Bowl LI this Sunday! The City of Katy will hold its Taste of Katy Chili Cookoff this Saturday, followed by the Celebrity Sweat Flag Football Game, which will feature several celebrity players. Dallas Cowboys' Michael Irvin and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback / Katy Tiger alum Andy Dalton will be in attendance, as well as many more. This fun event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, at Rhodes Stadium, and tickets will be available at the gate.

The third annual Katy Half Marathon will be held next Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Katy Mills Mall. The Katy Half Marathon is now a part of the Bayou City Half Marathon Series and will include the half marathon, half marathon two-person relay, 5K and kids 1K as well. All registrants will receive free high-resolution race photos, an event t-shirt, a finisher medal, complimentary parking, and more.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, The American Cancer Society will be hosting a Katy-Area "Bark for Life" event, a walk event designed specifically for dogs and their owners to raise awareness and funds for the American Cancer Society. By participating in the event and donating to the American Cancer Society, participants are contributing to the American Cancer Society's goal of less cancer and more birthdays.
