Whiskey Cake, a restaurant that specializes in made-from-scratch, farm-to-table foods, has recently opened a location in Katy. The resturant is open for dinner, brunch and lunch, and also has a full bar with specialty cocktails. The chain features its signature dessert, Whiskey Cake, which is made up of a toffee torte, bourbon spiced pecans and whipped cream to top it off.

The Katy ISD Education Foundation was recently named a southwest region finalist for this year's Chick-fil-A Inspiration Awards, an annual awards program that recognizes organizations whose values align with Chick-fil-A's. The Katy ISD Education Foundation invites the Katy and greater Houston community to support its campaign by voting for the Education Foundation by Monday, October 17. The Education Foundation could potentially receive $75,000 for the Katy ISD "Inspiring Imagination" teacher grant program.

You won't want to miss the 36th annual Katy Rice Harvest Festival, voted by the Katy community as the Best Annual Community Event. This year's festival will feature two days of action-packed fun, with food trucks, a carnival, craft and food booths, and two stages of continuous live music and entertainment.

On May 14 Aristoi Classical Academy broke ground on Phase 1 of its four-step plan to build a brand new, 22-acre K-12 campus at 5610 Morton Road in Katy. Phase 1 Includes the construction of a 20,000 square foot multi-purpose building and gymnasium, a 4,000 square foot kitchen and cafeteria, portable classroom buildings and an athletic field. Katy's own Typhoon Texas waterpark, located on Katy Fort Bend Road, is set to open tomorrow! The grand opening of the 25-acre waterpark will feature fireworks and live musical performances by the Saints and Sloppy Joe Band and Shane Smith. Typhoon Texas, Katy's own waterpark, is set to open at the end of the month! The waterpark, located off of Interstate 10, will feature several towering slides and 25,000 gallon wave pool for kids and adults of all ages to enjoy. With its Texas theme, Typhoon Texas will feature a symbolic Texas lazy river and a large Texas flag at the top of one of the slides. The park will also feature new, innovative water slides, including one with a trap door and one where patrons shoot lasers at targets as they slide down.

Construction on Typhoon Texas Waterpark, the newest addition to family fun in the Katy area, continues to progress as the grand opening date, May 28, quickly approaches. This new waterpark will be located 1.5 miles west of the Grand Parkway at 555 Katy Fort Bend Rd. When the park opens in late May, it will feature numerous large and twisty water slides, splash pads for kids, the new "X-Boarding," food and drink vendors and more. The Katy area has attracted yet another private school, as the British International School of Houston will be moving to a brand-new $80 million facility in Katy. This brings the total number of charter or private schools in the Katy area to approximately 20.
