Katy takes big win over Woodlands in pre-district game

Katy High School football took a big win over The Woodlands High School last week. The Tigers defeated the Highlanders 14-7 in their pre-district game before heading into District 19-6A play this week against Mayde Creek. Katy defeated Mayde Creek this week with a score of 52-0. Proceeds from Katy Wine Fest will go towards Center for Learning

The Cinco Ranch Rotary is hosting the 10th Annual Katy Wine Fest, which is scheduled for Nov. 6, at the Cafe at Brookwood in Brookshire. The event will last from 7 - 11 p.m. and is expecting a large turnout of over 300 guests. The moeny raised during the Katy Wine Fest will go towards the Brookwood Community's Center for Learning to help continue its ongoing training and outreach programs. Katy ISD Education Foundation to host Fireflies & Foodtrucks event

Mark your calendars for the Katy ISD Education Foundation's Fireflies & Foodtrucks event, which will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17 at No Label Brewery. This event will include live music from Earl Sanders Jr, valet parking, a new beer garden area and more. Fireflies & Foodtrucks will benefit the Katy ISD Education Foundation and their Inspiring Imagination program, which will award grants to deserving educators. Katy ISD students exceed national and state ACT averages

The 2015 graduating class of Katy ISD exceeded both the state and national average ACT scores in every subject including mathematics, reading, English and science. Additionally, 49 percent of Katy ISD students met the ACT benchmark scores in each subject area. This percentage is over 20 percent higher than both national and state averages. This year, a grand total of 1,611 students in Katy ISD took the ACT exam, marking an increase of approximately 300 studens from 2011. For more on this story, visit the Katy ISD website.


Katy ISD superintendent appointed to SFA Board of Regents

Katy ISD Superintendent Alton Frailey was appointed to the Stephen F. Austin University Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott on Aug. 17. Frailey's term is not set to expire until Jan. 31, 2021. Katy Twelve baseball brings home World Series Championship

The Katy Twelve select baseball team brought home the 8U Triple A division 2015 USSSA World Series championship in early July. The Katy Twelve battled their way through the World Series in Sulphur, Louisiana, and finished off the year ranked No. 1 in the nation in USSSA, earning a crystal plaque, championship banner and championship rings. 4th of July Weekend at CityCentre

Two nights of live concerts and a July Fourth fireworks spectacular will welcome the Independence Day weekend at CityCentre.
