Work on the much-anticipated Cane Island Parkway could begin as soon as November, according to Katy City Administrator Johnny Nelson. This initial phase of the parkway is projected to run north from I-10 to Highway Boulevard in Old Town Katy. Eventually, the parkway will be extended northward to Morton Road, said Nelson.
“This is a pretty big deal, and we’re ready to get things moving,” he told The Katy Times. “We could break ground as early as next month.”

Fort Bend County recently completed two road projects to alleviate traffic congestion in southwest Katy near new Tompkins High School.
The 2.5-mile extension of Falcon Landing Boulevard from Gaston Road to Westheimer Parkway opened this month as well as the concrete and four-lane upgrade given to Gaston Road near the high school.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyers is also working on extending Spring Green Boulevard north to south from Roesner Road to FM 1463, pending he receives funds from a proposed bond election in November. Check our July issue next week for more details on READ MORE »
