Good news for Katy residents! After years of planning, an official groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 10 for the Texas Heritage Parkway. Construction for the future parkway in Fulshear will begin in the next few weeks and last approximately 14 months.
This 6.4 mile, 200-foot-wide thoroughfare will run from 1093 and will connect to I-10 in Waller County. It is anticipated that this thoroughfare with 10 roundabouts will provide traffic relief for area residents.
Funded by both public and private sources, the THP will also have a trial system for walkers and bikers. According to Gary Gehbauer, an engineer with BGE Inc., three phases of construction sections are planned to be completed with three different construction companies. After about a decade of planning, construction on the Texas Heritage Parkway is beginning.
This new thoroughfare will open up opportunities for future businesses, such as a Texas Heritage Marketplace and new library to be developed following parkway completion.
