Voters elected two new members to the Katy ISD school board May 10, Ashley Vann and Courtney Doyle, to fill positions 3 and 4 respectively, while position 5 incumbent Henry Dibrell was re-elected for another term.
Board newcomer Vann unseated the incumbent, Bill Proctor, by better than 2 votes to 1. Vann tallied a total of 2,620 votes to Proctor’s 1,285.

Kick off your Memorial Day holiday at the Cinco Ranch Rotary Camo 5K at the Villagio Town Center in Katy. On Saturday, May 24th, the competitive 5K will kick off at 8 am. At 8:05, the 1 mile walk will start.

High school students taking the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness end-of-course exams have had a lighter load this year as the Texas Legislature implemented changes reducing the number of tests that will be administered.

The Katy girls' 4x200 medley relay team set a new school record at the Texas Relays held this past weekend in Austin. The team of Omri Brown, Deja Phillips, Tristan Sowell and Amari Johnson set the record time during the elite track meet.
The Katy City Council approved the appointment of Byron Hebert as city administrator at its March 24 meeting. Hebert, who served as Katy’s Director of Finance prior to this appointment, replaces Johnny Nelson. Nelson retired as city administrator after 20 years in the office.
