Fort Bend County completes road improvements in southwest Katy

Fort Bend County recently completed two road projects to alleviate traffic congestion in southwest Katy near new Tompkins High School.

The 2.5-mile extension of Falcon Landing Boulevard from Gaston Road to Westheimer Parkway opened this month as well as the concrete and four-lane upgrade given to Gaston Road near the high school.

Costco targets Katy for new location

Grocery juggernaut Costco has its sights set on opening a Katy area store at the southwest intersection of Grand Parkway and I-10. Tickets are on sale for the Katy High School Athletic Booster Club’s first “A Night of Champions” football kick-off celebration scheduled for Aug. 16 at the Merrell Center.

Education foundation awards grants for teacher projects

Newly formed Katy ISD Education Foundation awarded its first batch of grants after just a few months of fundraising. A total of 117 KISD teachers received grants for various projects, which added up to $87,000.

Girl Scout Troop donates Books and Knitted Caps
