Katy baseball takes unbeaten record into 19-6A play

The Katy Tigers won District 19 last year and advanced to the area playoffs. After an undefeated non-district season, they are likely the favorite for a repeat championship.

City of Katy Mayor and councilmen re-elected unopposed

City of Katy Mayor Fabol Hughes, Councilman Bill Lawton for Ward A and Councilman Jimmy Mendez for Ward B were declared as elected for another term each at the city’s regular meeting held March 9.

Katy Boardwalk project estimated at $49 million

When Katy Mills opened in 1999, city of Katy officials envisioned the mall as an engine for growth for the city. The City of Katy and the Katy Development Authority now have plans to protect that vehicle and promote the city’s future growth.

YMCA to open second Katy location

The YMCA of Greater Houston has announced the purchase of 6.58 acres of property in Katy for the construction of the city’s second YMCA location.

The new building, which is still in the design phase, will be located in the Katy Main Street development west of Pin Oak Road, near Kingsland Boulevard. It could open as early as late 2016 or early 2017.

Katy city officials break ground on new City Hall
