Katy ISD places $748 million bond on ballot

Katy ISD could see the addition of six new schools, a second district stadium and a slew of major campus renovations in the next five years if voters approve a $748 million bond referendum on the Nov. 4 ballot.

Market to bring fresh, local food to Katy

Harvest Farm to Market, a grocery store focused on organic and locally produced food, will open its second store and first Katy location at the corner of Westheimer Parkway and Greenbusch Avenue by the end of the year.

Board approves pay raises for teachers, bus drivers, workers

The Katy ISD school board, during its regular meeting June 23, voted to increase teacher salaries in the district by a range of 3 to 7 percent. In contrast with previous pay raises, this year’s salary bump was targeted largely toward teachers with six to 20 years of experience, district officials said.

New retail and office center planned at Westheimer and Greenbusch

A new retail and office center is underway at Westheimer Parkway and Greenbusch Road. The Marcel Group, which developed the Villagio Town Center, plans to break ground on a 58,500-square-foot office and retail center, named Marcel Commons, in October. The development is expected to open in 2015.

New Weatherford facility pumps jobs into Katy area

 Weatherford, an oil and gas services company, is now operating from its newest manufacturing and office facility in the Katy area. The 354,000-square-foot facility is located on 174 acres in Waller County, off Hwy. 90. So far, Weatherford has brought on 135 employees to staff its Katy location. Boardwalk near Katy Mills to offer view of wetland, wildlife

The city of Katy is making progress toward creating a $1.3 million boardwalk just south of Katy Mills. The project could provide residents and visitors with an up-close view of an area teeming with wildlife.
